Role Overview

This is a remote freelance position for an English-Cantonese Telephonic Interpreter at AsiaLocalize. The interpreter will deliver precise and culturally appropriate interpretation services during 3-way telephonic calls. Your role is vital in ensuring smooth communication between clients and stakeholders across different sectors, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout each session.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation during telephonic sessions between English-speaking clients and Cantonese-speaking LEPs (Limited English Proficiency speakers).
• Accurately interpret conversations across industries such as insurance, energy, and technology.
• Facilitate clear communication while respecting cultural nuances and sensitivities.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality during all interactions.
• Utilize our advanced voice portal system to deliver high-quality interpretation services.

Qualifications

• Fluency in both Cantonese and English (spoken and written).
• Experience in interpretation, whether commercial or community-based, is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle calls effectively under pressure, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
• Reliable phone access and a quiet workspace conducive for calls.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Pass a language assessment with a minimum score of 65%.
• Complete the required training and paperwork provided by AsiaLocalize.
• Availability to handle calls during peak hours (11:00 AM - 6:00 PM).
