Job Title: Dual Language Immersion Teacher - Mandarin Chinese (Simplified)
Department: World Languages
Reports To: Principal and Supervisor of World Languages
Salary Guide: WWPEA; 10 Month Contract
🌟 Position Summary
Provide daily instruction for students in accordance with Board-approved curriculum. This is a tenure track position for a Chinese Dual Language Immersion teacher.
🎓 Qualifications
- K-6 Elementary Certification
- Demonstration of fluency in the target language, which can include:
- OPI Score of Advanced Low or Higher
- A World Language (Chinese) Teaching Certificate
- Bilingual/Bicultural Co-endorsement
- Successful Criminal History Clearance
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
- Proof of US Citizenship or appropriate work authorization
📝 Essential Duties
Planning and Preparation
- Maintain lesson plans aligned with the Board-approved model for teaching and learning
- Develop instructional materials and strategies tailored to individual student needs
- Set specific objectives and effectively instruct to meet them
- Plan age-appropriate class activities and presentations
- Collaborate with staff during planning times
- Incorporate district IEP requirements into planning
Instruction and Assessment
- Deliver quality instruction consistent with Board-approved curriculum
- Utilize curricula, textbooks, technology, and activities to meet standards
- Monitor and record student academic progress and growth
- Identify student needs and provide engaging instruction
- Establish standards for classroom behavior conducive to learning
- Use class time effectively, supervising activities as assigned
- Design assessments to inform instruction
- Employ differentiated instruction and accommodations per IEPs
- Refer students to support personnel following district protocols
Classroom Environment
- Create a respectful, engaging, and age-appropriate classroom environment
- Implement policies and rules for student conduct
- Foster a positive rapport and culture for learning
Professional Responsibilities
- Seek ongoing professional development through reading, workshops, and courses
- Attend school and district meetings as required
- Complete mandated training and professional development annually
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and social-emotional growth
- Enhance instruction through community resources and professional contacts
- Collaborate with colleagues to support struggling learners
- Maintain confidentiality per laws and policies
- Enforce school rules, regulations, and policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors
📝 Terms of Employment
10-month contract with salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education.

📝 Evaluation and Technology Skills
