About Queens Community House (QCH) 🏡

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that has been empowering residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities since 1975. Originally founded as Forest Hills Community House to foster neighborhood healing after a conflict, QCH has expanded over four decades to operate 25 program sites across 11 neighborhoods in Queens, positively impacting individuals, families, and communities as a whole.

Our Programs: Building Bridges in Queens 🤝

One of our key initiatives is the Friendly Visiting Program, which creates meaningful intergenerational relationships and reduces feelings of isolation among older adults.

Friendly Visiting Program Details 📞👵

  • Connects homebound seniors aged 60+ with volunteers in their local communities
  • Serves residents across Western, Central, and Southeast Queens
  • Focuses on reducing loneliness and fostering community bonds

Volunteer Requirements & Opportunities 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Provide 2 non-related references
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteer service
  • Consent to a background check
  • Available for calls or in-person visits upon approval
