Your Role as Director, People & Culture 📝

This position’s level, direct reporting structure, and compensation are aligned with your professional qualifications and experience.

Supporting the SVP, People & Culture, you will handle the day-to-day operations of the department, acting as a primary contact for employees and managing processes related to:

  • Talent Management
  • Training and Development
  • Employee Relations
  • Compensation
  • Compliance
  • Internal Communications
  • Driving Employee Culture

Key Responsibilities 🌟

  • Talent Management: Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and training for Front Office, Game Day, and Baseball Operations staff.
  • Event Staff Oversight: Support employee recognition programs, union relations, employee performance, and discipline.
  • HR Management: Manage and serve as the point of contact for HR generalists, focusing on employee recognition and relations.
  • Business Consulting: Act as an internal advisor to management to meet organizational goals.
  • Partner with Leadership: Support Baseball Operations by providing guidance, compliance support, and training on P&C matters.
  • Training Programs: Develop, administer, and track training initiatives, including new hire onboarding and compliance.
  • Internship Program: Manage summer internships from recruitment to event coordination.
  • Performance Management: Oversee performance reviews, coaching, and talent development.
  • Employee Relations & Investigations: Handle complaints impartially and collaborate with leadership for outcomes.
  • Cultural Initiatives: Lead employee activities, events, and celebrations to promote a positive culture.
  • Policy & Compliance: Maintain employee handbook and ensure adherence to employment laws.
  • Organizational Support: Assist with promotions, transfers, terminations, and compensation strategies.
  • Legal Compliance & Travel: Stay updated on employment laws; represent P&C at Spring Training and support MiLB employees annually.

Required Knowledge & Skills 🚀

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR systems like Hireology and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Exceptional multitasking, prioritization, and customer service abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality with integrity and professionalism.
  • Punctual and reliable attendance.

Qualifications & Experience ✅

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • HR certifications such as PHR/SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CP are a plus.
  • 8+ years of HR management or business partner experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing skills for documents, policies, and communications.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and baseball terminology is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including during the baseball season, with travel as needed.
  • Physical ability to be present in the ballpark for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including background checks and drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits 💰

Based on the California pay transparency law, the annual salary range for this role is $90,000 – $125,000. Salary will depend on experience, education, and skills.
