Position Summary 🎯

We are seeking a visionary Director of Programming & Events to lead the creation and execution of impactful programs that embody our Sephardic heritage and community spirit. This leadership role is perfect for a creative, organized, and community-oriented professional experienced in Jewish communal programming.

Key Responsibilities 🗝️

1. Program Development & Execution 🎨

  • Develop a comprehensive annual calendar of educational, cultural, holiday, and social events.
  • Manage event logistics, including scheduling, vendors, venues, supplies, registration, and guest experience.
  • Create meaningful, age-appropriate programming for diverse groups—youth, families, singles, and adult learners.

2. Community Engagement & Communications 💬

  • Build and nurture relationships with members, educators, artists, and partner organizations.
  • Manage community communications through Constant Contact, WhatsApp, social media, and printed bulletins.
  • Maintain an active digital presence on Instagram, Facebook, and the synagogue website.

3. Team & Volunteer Management 🤝

  • Recruit, train, and oversee event staff and volunteers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for program inquiries and community involvement.

4. Operations & Administration 📝

  • Keep the synagogue’s master programming calendar up-to-date, including holiday seating arrangements.
  • Coordinate logistics for High Holiday and flagship events such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Purim.
  • Collaborate with clergy, office staff, and lay leaders to ensure smooth event execution.

5. Budget & Fundraising Support 💰

  • Develop and manage the programming budget.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and grant applications related to programs and events.

6. Evaluation & Continuous Improvement 📊

  • Gather participant feedback and monitor engagement metrics.
  • Use data insights to enhance and refine upcoming programs.

Qualifications ✅

  • Experience: 3–5+ years in program management, community engagement, or event planning, preferably in a Jewish or nonprofit setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Constant Contact, Canva, WhatsApp group management, and social media platforms.
  • Communication: Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational: Strong multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail and calendar coordination.
  • Personal Fit: Passion for Jewish life, Sephardic traditions, and fostering inclusive community experiences.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Orthodox synagogue life, knowledge of Hebrew, and experience managing synagogue seating and High Holiday logistics.
