Consulate General of Israel in New York Is Hiring A Director of Print and Online Media
The Director of Print and Online Media is responsible for maintaining and growing the consulate's working relationships with media outlets. The Director is also a core member of the writing and messaging team – drafting speeches, statements and other pieces for the consulate's diplomats.
Media Department key responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining contact with journalists, opinion leaders and key media personalities
- Monitoring and analyzing news and media trends with a focus on Israel-related issues
- Conducting and arranging briefings on Israeli policy, politics, economy, and related issues
- Pitching and arranging interviews for Israeli officials
Role's key responsibilities:
- Establishing and furthering relationships with national, local and community print and online media outlets
- Organizing interviews and media appearances with said outlets for consulate diplomats
- Drafting speeches for consulate diplomats' public events and appearances
- Drafting diplomats' op-eds, attributed statements, requests for comment and all manner of written content
- Staying on top of developing news stories and briefing consulate diplomats on issues to prepare for interviews and media appearances
- Drafting and distributing timely press releases on fast-moving topics
- Drafting reports explaining media industry trends and developments for internal use
Requirements:
- Fluent English
- Bachelor's degree, ideally in media, journalism, communications or a related field
- Two years of professional experience in said fields
- Deep familiarity with American and Israeli politics, the American media landscape and specific media outlets and personalities
- Excellent writing, communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills
- Strong planning, organizational and time-management skills
- Proactive and creative
- Understanding of the local political news cycle of the Consulate's jurisdictive states (NY, NJ, PA, OH, DE) is a plus
- Hebrew fluency is a plus
