Ben Porat Yosef is more than just a school — it’s a sacred partnership between families and educators, creating a dynamic learning environment grounded in Torah values and academic excellence. Since its founding in 2001, BPY has grown into a premier yeshiva day school in Northern New Jersey, serving approximately 500 children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade with a fully integrated curriculum of General and Judaic Studies.
Located in Paramus, New Jersey, BPY is a warm, nurturing, and vibrant Modern Orthodox institution. It honors the potential of every child and actively fosters Ahavat Yisrael, deep Hebrew fluency, a love for Torah and mitzvot, and the skills to navigate both the Jewish and broader worlds with confidence and compassion. With students from across Bergen County and beyond, BPY reflects the richness of our Jewish community, sharing a unified vision: nurturing the next generation of engaged, curious, and compassionate Jewish leaders.
Position Overview 🎯
This pivotal role is dedicated to cultivating a strong culture of philanthropy that sustains BPY’s educational quality, community warmth, and future growth. The Director of Development will collaborate with various departments and community stakeholders to ensure all messaging and initiatives embody BPY’s mission, values, and voice. Our community-supported growth is fueled by the generosity of parents, alumni families, and the wider Jewish community through programs like the Annual Campaign, celebration dinners, and capital campaigns.
Key Responsibilities 📋
Leadership & Strategy
- Drive all fundraising and engagement initiatives, including the annual campaign, corporate giving, and legacy gifts
- Implement and refine the school’s strategic development plan annually
- Lead donor stewardship, data management, and impact reporting best practices
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to highlight philanthropy in school messaging
- Work with Finance to maintain transparent reporting and monitor fundraising performance
Event Planning and Management 🎉
- Plan and execute approximately two major fundraising events annually: the dinner and spring celebration
- Manage event timelines, budgets, and logistics including venue, vendors, catering, A/V, décor, and staffing
- Create compelling event materials in partnership with Marketing & Communications
- Keep detailed records of sponsorships, post-event evaluations, and outcomes
- Implement improvements based on event analysis and collaborate on other donor and community events
Volunteer and Stakeholder Collaboration 🤝
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers and committee members for events and campaigns
- Act as the liaison to campaign and event committees, ensuring fundraising goals are met
- Support the Major Gifts Committee in identifying and engaging prospects, especially current parents, alumni, and community partners

We are looking for a thoughtful, energetic, and highly organized professional who is passionate about Jewish education and community building. The ideal candidate will:
- Have 5+ years of experience in fundraising and event management
- Be a confident project manager capable of juggling multiple priorities
- Work well collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Be deeply passionate about philanthropy and Jewish community values
- Possess strong systems-mindedness and attention to detail
- Be familiar with fundraising best practices and financial reporting
- Be flexible, proactive, and eager to grow within a mission-driven environment

Position Details ⚙️
- Salary Range: $85,000–$105,000, based on experience
- Location: In-person at BPY school office in Paramus, NJ
- Reports to: Associate Head of School
- Schedule: Occasional evenings and weekends for events and community functions
