📝 Job Description
The Director for Global Defense - Japan is responsible for spearheading and expanding Oracle’s defense and national security business in Japan. This role involves aligning global defense priorities with Japan’s regulatory and security environment, fostering relationships with key government and industry partners, shaping long-term capture strategies, and ensuring secure delivery of solutions. The position reports to global defense leadership and works closely with Japan’s country leadership, product, engineering, legal, security, and delivery teams.
🔑 Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Japan defense growth strategies aligned with global objectives and local market dynamics.
- Identify priority missions, agencies, and modernization programs; craft value propositions that resonate with defense and security stakeholders, emphasizing resilience, sovereignty, and security.
- Build and nurture senior relationships with Japan’s Ministry of Defense (JMOD), Self-Defense Forces, government entities, and defense primes.
- Collaborate with solution architects and delivery leaders to design secure, compliant solutions (cloud, data platforms, AI/analytics, cyber).
- Ensure proposals and delivery plans meet customer needs, data sovereignty expectations, and compliance standards.
- Lead executive presentations and negotiations with key stakeholders.
- Forge alliances with Japanese defense primes, system integrators, and technology partners for compliant bids and delivery.
- Design teaming and subcontracting approaches that satisfy procurement and security requirements.
- Coordinate closely with legal, security, and compliance teams for bid decisions, due diligence, and contracting.
- Influence cross-functional global teams to prioritize Japan defense requirements and timelines.
🎯 Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in defense/national security government, industry, or related roles, with significant exposure to the Japanese market.
- Proficiency in Japanese language.
- Strong understanding of Japan's defense procurement processes, stakeholder landscape, and partner ecosystem.
- Executive presence with proven ability to engage C-level leaders, senior civil servants, and prime contractors.
- Experience leading teams and influencing matrixed organizations; strong commercial and contractual acumen.
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in business, engineering, international relations, or related fields.
- Experience with secure cloud, mission systems modernization, cyber, data/AI, or enterprise platforms within defense environments.
- Existing network across JMOD/SDF, defense primes, and key system integrators.

💼 Additional Details
Disclaimer: Some US customer-facing roles may require compliance with immunization or occupational health mandates. The listed salary range in USD is from $109,200 to $223,400 per annum, with potential bonuses and equity.
