About the Role 🚀

The Director for Global Defense - Japan is responsible for spearheading and expanding Oracle's strategic defense and national security business in Japan. You will align global defense priorities with Japan’s regulatory, security, and procurement environment, developing key relationships and shaping long-term customer capture strategies. This role reports to global defense leadership and collaborates closely with Japan’s country, product, legal, security, and delivery teams.

Primary Responsibilities 💼

• Strategy Development: Define and implement growth strategies aligned with global defense objectives and Japan market dynamics.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Identify mission priorities and establish value propositions for defense and national security stakeholders emphasizing resilience, sovereignty, and security.
• Relationship Building: Cultivate senior relationships with the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD), Self-Defense Forces, government agencies, and defense primes.
• Solution Collaboration: Partner with solution architects to design compliant, secure solutions (cloud, AI, cyber, data platforms).
• Proposal & Delivery Oversight: Ensure proposals meet customer mission needs, data sovereignty, and compliance requirements.
• Executive Communications: Lead high-level presentations and negotiations.
• Partnership Development: Build alliances with Japanese defense primes, system integrators, and technology partners for bid and delivery success.
• Team & Contracting: Structure teaming, subcontracting, and coordinate with legal/security teams for bid decisions and contracts.
• Global Influence: Influence cross-functional teams to prioritize Japan's defense needs and timelines.

Qualifications 📋

• Over 10 years of progressive defense or national security experience, with significant exposure to the Japan market.
• Proficient in Japanese language skills.
• Deep understanding of Japan’s defense procurement, stakeholder landscape, and partner ecosystem.
• Executive presence capable of engaging C-level leaders, senior civil servants, and prime contractors.
• Proven success leading teams and influencing matrixed organizations with strong commercial acumen.

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• Advanced degree in business, engineering, international relations, or related fields.
• Experience with secure cloud, mission system modernization, cyber, data/AI, or defense enterprise platforms.
• Existing network within JMOD/SDF, defense primes, and key system integrators.

Additional Details 🔎

Salary range in the US: $109,200 – $223,400 per year, with potential bonus and equity.
