About the Team
The AP Curriculum and Assessment Team at College Board, comprising over 90 staff members, collaborates across all facets of the AP Program to develop, manage, and deliver
over 40 courses in diverse subject areas. 🎓🌟

The team’s expertise ensures the creation of high-quality instructional resources, assessments, and innovative strategies like strategic AI application to broaden access and improve exam processes.
The English, World Languages, and Arts department, which includes programs like English Literature, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Music Theory, Spanish Literature, and Art & Design, supports 14 courses with a team of 28 dedicated professionals.
Opportunity Overview
As the Director I, AP French Language and Culture, you will oversee the quality, validity, and strategic growth of the AP French program’s core deliverables: the exam, course curricula, and professional development content. 📚📝
You will manage item development from authoring to administration, coordinate with college professors and secondary educators, and ethically incorporate AI tools to enhance assessment fairness, validity, and innovation.
Key responsibilities include training subject-matter experts (SMEs), translating between academic and technical teams, and developing formative assessment resources for teachers worldwide. You will also serve as an AP subject-matter community liaison, promoting the program's growth globally.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment Development & Scoring (45-75%)
- Lead assessment creation: Oversee development, revision, and training related to AP French Language and Culture assessments.
- Collaborate effectively: Work with teams and stakeholders—assessment productions, test committees, chief reader—to ensure alignment with curricula and standards.
- Manage assessment materials: Develop exam forms, scoring guides, and coordinate with the Test Development Committee.
- Conduct evaluations: Lead face-to-face and virtual scoring sessions during the annual AP Reading event, producing related publications for educators and students.
- Train SMEs: Supervise and mentor committee members involved in assessment content development.
Assessment Quality & Process (10-25%)
- Promote best practices: Engage in ongoing discussions to uphold high standards in assessment design and expertise sharing within the community.
- Support improvement initiatives: Contribute to refining question models, exam design, and validation processes aligned with psychometric and disciplinary standards.
- Monitor exam validity: Ensure assessment integrity, security, and continual enhancement in collaboration with the team.
