San Diego State University's Department of Linguistics and Asian/Middle Eastern Languages is inviting applications for their part-time lecturer pool, offering exciting teaching opportunities in a vibrant academic community.
About the Position
We welcome applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in the following areas:
- Linguistics or related fields
- ESL Composition or related fields
- Asian/Middle Eastern Languages (Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Persian) or related fields
Temporary appointments can be full- or part-time, often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Appointments typically last for one semester or one academic year, with renewals contingent upon performance and continued availability of work. Opportunities during Summer Sessions may also be available. Applications remain in our pool for the duration of the academic year.
Qualifications 🎓
- Graduate degree preferred in Linguistics, ESL Composition, Asian/Middle Eastern Languages, or related fields
- University teaching experience
- Demonstrated currency in subject matter

Salary & Classification 💰
Initial ranks and salaries are based on professional experience and educational background, typically starting at Lecturer A or B. As of July 2023, the salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,007 - $6,359
- Lecturer B: $5,925 - $12,594
- Lecturer C: $6,500 - $13,831
- Lecturer D: $8,184 - $14,487
