Sela PCS was founded to challenge educational inequities, racial segregation, and cultural isolation. Our dual-language Hebrew and English school proudly serves over 300 PreK-3 to 5th-grade students in Washington, DC.

The Opportunity 💼
The Elementary Dean role is vital for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive school atmosphere. This leadership position involves supporting positive student behavior, coaching teachers, and collaborating with families and staff to foster a school culture aligned with Sela’s core values and mission.
Job Responsibilities ✨
Student Behavior & Support 🎯
- Create systems and respond promptly to behavioral incidents and student needs throughout the school day
- Develop and lead restorative practices and other responses to behavioral challenges
- Implement and monitor individual Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students needing extra support
- Participate in the schoolwide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) committee, providing behavioral expertise for aligned interventions
- Support the development of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 behavior strategies in coordination with the MTSS team
- Analyze behavior data to inform intervention strategies and adjust supports accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and special education staff to ensure appropriate supports and monitor progress
- Implement proactive Tier 1 strategies to prevent disruptions
- Supervise common areas such as hallways, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and order
- Assist with student and staff safety procedures, including emergency drills
Schoolwide PBIS Implementation 💖
- Support the rollout and sustainability of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in collaboration with school leadership
- Work with staff to establish clear behavior expectations, incentives, and consistent consequences
- Monitor the fidelity of PBIS systems through data tracking and routines
- Promote a positive, reinforcement-focused school culture rooted in restorative practices
Family & Stakeholder Communication 📞🤝
- Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student behavior, interventions, and progress
- Partner with staff for supporting student success through family meetings and behavior support conferences
- Provide clear documentation of incidents and interventions for all stakeholders
Teacher Support & Coaching 🍎
- Coach teachers on classroom management and behavior strategies
- Assist in developing effective behavior plans and ensuring consistent school-wide expectations
- Model best practices in student engagement, de-escalation, and restorative discipline
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate 🎓✨
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience working with elementary students in urban schools
- Proven success in managing student behavior and supporting teacher practices
- Knowledge of PBIS, MTSS, and Responsive Classroom approaches
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, or administration preferred
- Experience leading PBIS and MTSS initiatives, coaching educators, or mentoring staff is advantageous
- Bilingual in English and Hebrew is a plus!
Job Details 📋
- This is a full-time, 40-hour position, non-exempt, with hours from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, including a 30-minute break
- Reports to the Elementary School Director
- No supervisory responsibilities
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 💰
