Job Summary

🌟 The Cytotechnologist plays a vital role in preparing, screening, and interpreting cytologic specimens, collaborating with pathologists, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards (CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, CLIA). This role requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve clinical and instrument issues, maintaining the highest quality standards in our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and screen all cytologic specimens in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist with fine needle procedures and interpret findings alongside a pathologist.
  • Follow laboratory policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable agencies.
  • Verify test results meet quality control requirements; repeat tests if necessary, and document all findings.
  • Utilize critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills for clinical and instrument-related challenges.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, cytology, chemical sciences, or related fields. Degree waivers may be considered based on experience and licensing.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Certifications: Board Registered Cytologist or recognized specialist in Cytology; eligible for registration.
  • Licensing: Licensed Cytologist (LC).

Specific Skills

Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for interacting with hospital staff and external contacts.
