Job Summary 📝
As a Member Advocate, you will serve as the main point of contact for members, prospects, providers, brokers, and vendors. Your primary role is to support members by addressing questions related to benefits, eligibility, referrals, claims, and other plan services. Success in this position involves delivering superior customer service with professionalism and a helpful attitude, ensuring member satisfaction at all times.
Key Functions & Responsibilities 🎯
- Educate members, families, providers, and caregivers about benefits and plan options.
- Explain benefits and plan details accurately via in-person meetings, email, fax, or phone.
- Follow up with members to clarify issues, identify causes, and communicate solutions; escalate complex cases as needed.
- Participate in member calling projects to support membership retention goals.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and job aids to ensure efficient operations; suggest improvements and report workflow issues.
- Comply with federal and state regulatory requirements, including HIPAA guidelines.
- Accurately document transactions and interactions in the appropriate computer systems.
- Maintain a responsive attitude in a coaching-rich environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications ⭐
Education and Experience 📚
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or comparable work experience preferred.
- At least two (2) years of customer service experience, ideally in healthcare management or call centers.
Skills & Competencies 🛠️
- Knowledge of CMS regulations and healthcare policies.
- Bilingual proficiency in Korean; knowledge of additional languages such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish, Thai, Khmer, or Japanese is a plus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding active listening skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt rapidly.
- Calm, courteous, and professional when assisting upset members or handling complex issues.
- Capable of multitasking—listening, speaking, and typing simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Typing speed: 40 WPM required; 60 WPM preferred.
Additional Requirements 🕒
- Availability to work some weekends from October through March.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and phone; perform repetitive motions and taking notes.
Wage Range 💰
$20.00 to $23.00 per hour
