Job Summary 🎯
Member Advocates serve as the main point of contact, interfacing with members, prospective members, providers, brokers, and vendors. They assist with questions regarding benefits, eligibility, referrals, claims, and other plan services, ensuring member satisfaction with excellent customer service and professionalism.
Functions & Responsibilities ⚙️
- Educate members, families, providers, and caregivers about benefits and plan options.
- Explain benefits clearly in person, via email, fax, or phone.
- Follow-up with members to clarify issues, identify causes, and explain solutions. Escalate issues as needed.
- Participate in member calling projects to support membership retention.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and job aids for efficient operations; suggest improvements when appropriate.
- Comply with all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
- Document transactions accurately in the computer system by completing forms and summarizing actions.
- Maintain a professional attitude and remain receptive to coaching and feedback.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications ✅
Education & Experience 📚
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or call center settings.
Skills 🛠️
- Knowledge of CMS regulations.
- Bilingual proficiency: Korean required, additional languages like Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish, Thai, Khmer, Japanese a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong active listening and collaboration skills.
- Fast learner with the ability to handle upset members courteously.
- Strong multitasking ability—listening, talking, and typing simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Typing speed of 40 WPM; 60 WPM preferred.
Additional Requirements 🎯
- Willingness to work some weekends from October to March.
Compensation & Environment 💰🌎
Wage Range: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour
Physical & Working Environment
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Operate a keyboard, mouse, and phone; perform repetitive motions.
- Sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
- Work predominantly in an office and/or remote setting with frequent staff and public contact.
- May include irregular hours based on business needs.
