Position Overview: Residential Mortgage Loan Originator 🏡💰
This full-time role within our financial centers focuses on originating loans for clients with residential mortgage needs. You will serve as the primary lending specialist, providing personalized lending advice and solutions through in-person interactions or over the phone. Your responsibilities will span mortgage products such as First Mortgages and HELOCs, along with Auto Loans, Credit Cards, and Core Banking services.
Key responsibilities include balancing sales performance, operational risk, and strengthening client relationships. Due to regulatory requirements, this position involves SAFE Act registration, and all employees engaged in mortgage originations must stay compliant with federal registration and background check procedures.
Responsibilities 🔑
- Deliver personalized advice and guidance on borrowing and banking products tailored to clients' life plans
- Build and deepen client relationships by leveraging the bank’s full capabilities
- Analyze financial needs and recommend suitable financial services
- Present home lending options, manage mortgage applications, and assist clients with documentation
- Maintain regular contact with clients via outreach, calls, email, and online messaging
- Respond to client requests and refer to internal partners as needed
- Partner with branch leadership and team members to deliver exemplary client experiences
Required Qualifications ✅
- Minimum 2 years of mortgage origination experience or equivalent background demonstrating client needs assessment, trust-building, and consultative sales skills
- Active listening skills with a proactive client engagement mindset
- Professional communication skills—effective, confident, and in-person/phone capable
- Ability to analyze financial and credit data to guide clients appropriately
- Strong customer service skills with end-to-end client experience management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptability to changing circumstances and ambiguity
- Performance-driven, energetic, and committed to ethical practice
- Flexibility to work weekends and extended hours as needed
- Collaborative team player with relationship-building abilities

- Understanding of regulatory compliance and due diligence requirements

- Experience in retail loan origination and knowledge of mortgage products such as Conventional, Jumbo, HELOC, and Government loans
- Familiarity with credit and home lending regulations
- Track record of exceeding goals in a financial center environment
- Skill in analyzing complex financial data and providing financial alternatives
- Knowledge of banking products and services
- Strong time management, organization, and multitasking skills
- Experience with mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
