BHI Is Hiring A Corporate Compliance Officer (AVP)
The Corporate Compliance Officer (AVP) assists the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer with managing and testing all aspects of the corporate / regulatory compliance program in accordance with Bank policies and governmental regulations, as applicable. The position is for a self-motivated Compliance Officer with technical aptitude, providing regulatory compliance support within the commercial banking space. The candidate will play a fundamental role in handling a wide variety of compliance-related matters to reduce corporate compliance risk and promote operational efficiency. Candidate will also be responsible for helping to build a testing program to determine the strength of the control environment, executing tests, articulating control deficiencies and working with business / operational units to remediate.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and maintain an effective, risk-based compliance management system to comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations and regulatory guidance
- Help to establish an appropriate internal control environment (i.e.: policies, procedures, and processes) reasonably designed to comply with all federal and state laws and regulations
- Identify compliance-related risks and emerging issues pertinent to the Branch's operations
- Execute applicable risk assessments
- Draft compliance policies and procedures
- Perform quality assurance / testing reviews to ensure accuracy of operations
- Investigate, as applicable, cases of compliance findings arising from compliance reviews, customer complaints or Audit/Regulatory findings to determine root causes, recommend and monitor corrective action to resolution
- Maintain collaborative alliances with all business units to ensure that compliance risks and red flags are identified and addressed
- Assist with targeted training on corporate / regulatory compliance topics
- Assist with management committee reporting by compiling information regarding the Compliance Programs and providing status updates in sufficient detail
- Review and approve marketing materials, advertising, website and social media for compliance
- Liaise with examiners during compliance examinations and auditors during compliance audits
- Perform special projects and additional duties and responsibilities, as required and directed
- Review and analyze new laws, regulations and regulatory guidance for impact on business owners or systems; report them to the appropriate business areas and assist in developing compliant policies and procedures
Qualifications Needed
- Knowledge of U.S. banking business, including middle market banking business, commercial lending, syndicated lending and other relevant products
- Knowledge of corporate / general compliance and risk for a commercial bank (e.g. BSA/AML, Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Flood Insurance Disaster Protection Act, Fair Lending, Expedited Funds Availability Act, Privacy, etc.)
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Task organization, prioritization and follow-up Ability to handle multiple assignments and deliver on due dates. Ability to work in a team (ask for assistance, help others, team player attitude)
- Proficiency in the use of various in-house compliance monitoring systems, including data warehouse to generate ad-hoc reports
- Proficiency in Word, Excel (tables and data manipulation, pivot tables, charts and data presentation, ), and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical Attention to detail and quality
- (Optional) Ability to read and write in foreign language relevant to clients (e.g., Hebrew)
- (Optional) Ability to manipulate large data-sets and perform complex analysis, leverage robotic desktop automation and AI tools
Experience Required/Preferred: Min 3-5 years in financial services with focus on risk, compliance, or audit.
Education Required/Preferred: BA or BS. Major in related discipline, preferable in Accounting, Business, Finance or Law Degree
Languages Required/Preferred: English, Hebrew - optional
