About The Role
We are looking for experienced, bilingual facilitators in California to deliver top-quality professional development to educators and school leaders. This contract role involves facilitating engaging virtual and in-person training sessions to equip educators with effective, evidence-based literacy practices. ✨
Ideal candidates should have deep knowledge of structured literacy and reading development, with prior experience in consulting, facilitation, and professional development delivery. Fluency in Spanish is essential to effectively communicate and reinforce literacy concepts in both English and Spanish, ensuring instruction is linguistically responsive and accessible to all learners. 🤝
This position is needs-based, with peak activity during the back-to-school season, requiring flexible scheduling and extensive travel.
What You'll Do
- Facilitate Professional Development: Deliver engaging, research-based training sessions on the Heggerty curriculum, both virtually and in-person.
- Adapt to Educator Needs: Customize training approaches to suit different school and district contexts for maximum impact.
- Manage Session Logistics: Coordinate scheduling, share materials, send follow-ups, and ensure a seamless training experience.
- Stay Current & Collaborate: Participate in onboarding, routine training, and internal meetings to stay updated on product and instructional improvements.
- Support Educator Learning: Act as a knowledgeable resource, answering questions and providing guidance to participants.
- Ensure Professionalism & Preparedness: Independently manage travel arrangements and scheduling commitments during busy training periods.
- Provide Feedback & Communication: Serve as a liaison, effectively communicating issues and needs between Heggerty and partners.
Qualifications
Spanish Proficiency
- Fluency in Spanish is required to deliver bilingual literacy instruction and reinforce concepts in both languages.
Educational & Professional Background
- Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, or similar are a plus.
- Experience delivering professional development in various formats—webinars, in-person, or asynchronous.
- Classroom teaching experience with a strong foundation in evidence-based literacy practices.
- Familiarity with Heggerty curricula and best practices aligned with the Science of Reading.
Technical & Instructional Skills
- Expertise in leveraging educational technologies to support teaching and learning.
- Strong facilitation skills to engage adult learners effectively.
Communication & Organization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt training to diverse educator needs.
- Highly organized with strong logistical management capabilities.
Technology & Workspace Requirements
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Zoom or similar platforms.
- Candidates must provide their own equipment: computer, microphone, and webcam.
- A reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional space are essential for virtual training.
Additional Details
- Travel: Flexibility to travel, especially during peak seasons (July–October). Candidates near major airports preferred.
