Our client is a growing heavy civil construction company specializing in complex infrastructure, site development, and public-sector projects for municipal and federal clients. They are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager – Heavy Civil to join their expanding team.
The Role
This position offers comprehensive leadership and oversight across all phases of project delivery—from pre-construction to closeout. The Project Manager will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and per the highest quality standards. 🚧
Your Responsibilities
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, embodying the company's core values of integrity, excellence, and collaboration.
- Project Planning & Execution: Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution for heavy civil works, including sitework, infrastructure, and municipal or federal contracts.
- Project Management: Oversee all aspects, such as submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and change order negotiations.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor field superintendents and support staff, ensuring safety and project objectives are met.
- Pre-construction Collaboration: Work with estimating and procurement teams to establish budgets, scopes, and schedules.
- Meetings & Coordination: Lead and participate in progress reviews, quality control, and safety meetings.
- Client Relationships & Business Development: Maintain strong relationships to foster repeat and future work opportunities.
- Risk & Safety Management: Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with safety standards and contractual obligations.
- Financial Oversight: Track and report on project performance, including cost forecasting, cash flow, and profit margins.
- Project Closeout: Oversee punch list completion, documentation, and ensure overall client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in field or project management within heavy civil construction (e.g., site development, infrastructure, bridges, utilities, federal projects).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, cost controls, and safety practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex, multi-phase projects.
