Position: Bilingual Community Service Aide

Join our Linkages to Learning team to support families and children at Georgian Forest Elementary School and/or Kemp Mill Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD. This role provides crucial administrative and programmatic assistance to our Family Case Manager and Mental Health Therapist.

Work Schedule Options

  • Part-Time: 20 hours per week at either Georgian Forest or Kemp Mill.
  • Full-Time: 40 hours per week, with 20 hours at Georgian Forest and 20 hours at Kemp Mill.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Initial Family Contact: Serve as the first point of contact for families inquiring about LTL programs and services.
  2. Resource Coordination: Assist in sourcing food, clothing, housing, and other essential needs for families.
  3. Program Support: Help facilitate after school, evening, summer programs, workshops, groups, holiday gift drives, and other special projects.
  4. Childcare Services: Provide childcare during meetings and coordinate care for events like groups and workshops.
  5. Waiting List Management: Manage waitlists for Family and Children’s services.
  6. Translation Support: Offer translation and interpretation services to bilingual and non-bilingual staff.
  7. Financial Management: Oversee funds within assigned budget categories.
  8. Family Support: Track and provide bus tokens, cab vouchers, and emergency food deliveries.
  9. Mental Wellness Assistance: Support mental health and care management activities as needed.
  10. Appointment Reminders: Contact clients to remind and update them about appointments.
  11. confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality policies per organizational standards.
  12. Professional Representation: Always represent EveryMind and the Linkages to Learning program professionally, respectfully, and courteously.
  13. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision & Reporting

  • Supervision to be Exercised: None.
  • Supervision to be Received: Task assignments from Family Case Manager and Mental Health Therapist, with direct supervision from Manager, School-Based Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Preferred experience working in a community setting.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and listening skills.
  • Required bilingual Spanish proficiency.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a flexible work environment, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders including leadership, community members, and partners.
  • Clear and confident communication, with sensitivity to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with organizational and federal guidelines.

Physical & Emotional Demands

Employees must frequently stand, walk, sit, handle objects, climb stairs, balance, kneel, crouch, speak, and listen. The role requires lifting up to 35 pounds regularly. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, with focus adjustment.

Note: Due to the sensitive nature of the work, individuals with recent trauma or suicidality history (>12 months) should consider their suitability for this role.

Clearance & Background Checks

All candidates must pass a criminal background check, including checks for child sexual abuse and criminal activity. Compliance with drug and alcohol policies is mandatory.

Work Environment & Conditions

The role involves primarily on-site work during standard business hours (9 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday), with some flexibility for evening or weekend hours. Travel to various locations is required, and reliable transportation is essential.
