The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated Part-time Community Engagement Manager to support and strengthen Jewish communities across Buxmont and surrounding areas. This role involves relationship-building, event planning, leadership development, and community outreach within a vibrant and collaborative environment. 🌟

About the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia

The Federation champions a lively network of synagogues, volunteers, and community organizations throughout Greater Philadelphia through its Kehillot (Hebrew for community or neighborhood). Our Kehillot serve diverse regions including Bucks County, Buxmont, Center City, Chester County, Delaware County, Lower Merion, Northeast, and Old York Road. These communities come together within geographic areas to create inspired Jewish life, offering programming and enrichment for all ages.

Our team leverages relational engagement, event planning, and Federation resources to:

  • Create communication pipelines and leadership development pathways from grassroots levels to Federation initiatives
  • Serve individuals and families connected to and disconnected from organized Jewish institutions
  • Strengthen relationships among community institutions, synagogues, and leadership across the region

Each Kehillah offers vibrant gatherings such as holiday events, social action/mitzvah projects, and philanthropic opportunities.

Position Overview

This position is within the Leadership and Community Development Department of the Jewish Federation. The Community Engagement Manager reports to the Director of Community Development and collaborates cross-functionally within the Federation.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Connect with individuals and families within the Kehillah to understand their interests, needs, and foster a sense of belonging
  • Act as a liaison, facilitating access to Jewish experiences, institutions, and Federation programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, volunteers, rabbis, cantors, educators, and community leaders
  • Focus on engaging underserved populations, including Jews of Color, interfaith/multifaith Jews, Russian and Hebrew speakers, Jews with disabilities, Orthodox Jews, LGBTQ+ Jews, and more

Donor and Leadership Prospecting

  • Manage a pipeline of prospective donors and community leaders, ensuring regular follow-ups and connections
  • Identify new prospects and cultivate relationships to encourage donations supporting Federation’s mission

Leadership Development

  • Oversee a Leadership Team (4-6 leaders) and a broad Coalition of community representatives
  • Plan and facilitate 4-6 Leadership Team meetings and 2-3 Coalition meetings annually
  • Develop strategic plans, manage budgets, and foster leadership succession
  • Create engaging content for Coalition meetings to maximize participation

Partnership & Event Support

  • Identify potential corporate sponsors in partnership with Fundraising staff
  • Collaborate on ideas for community events, lead committees, and participate in event execution

Communication & Federation Integration

  • Maintain ongoing communication within the Kehillah, working with the Federation’s marketing team
  • Develop and distribute cohesive messaging that aligns Federation, Kehillah, and partner goals

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with diverse personalities
  • Excellent organizational skills with multitasking capability
  • Proven project management skills from conception to completion
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, events, and community connections
  • Preferred familiarity with the Philadelphia and Buxmont Jewish communities
  • Availability for evening, Shabbat, holiday, and Sunday events
  • Strategic thinker with a future-oriented relationship approach
  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in relationship-building, project oversight, and navigating diverse opinions
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms

Compensation

This part-time role offers an hourly wage ranging from $27 to $33.50.
