Help empower Jewish teens in Greater Phoenix by leading outreach, programming, and leadership initiatives that foster meaningful community connections and personal growth.

Who We Are

J Teen Connect AZ (JTCAZ), part of the Valley of the Sun J’s Youth Department, is the central hub for Jewish teen engagement in Greater Phoenix. We connect 8th–12th graders with dynamic programs that promote Jewish and Israeli connection, leadership, social action, education, fitness, summer travel, and internship opportunities.

We offer:

  • A curated website and active social media channels showcasing programs across organizations and locations.
  • E-newsletters highlighting upcoming local, national, and international programs.
  • Incentive subsidies to support participation in overnight and immersive experiences.
  • Grants for outreach and programming not otherwise funded.
  • Training programs and collaboration opportunities with Jewish teen program directors.

You will report to the Chief Officer of Youth and Family Programs at the Valley of the Sun J, with oversight also provided by lay leadership.

Our mission: To serve as a vibrant hub of high-quality opportunities where Jewish teens can build lifelong, meaningful connections with their community and Israel.

What You’ll Do

As the Director of JTCAZ, you'll oversee outreach, programming, and leadership development, ensuring teens find inspiring opportunities to thrive in Jewish life.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach 🤝

  • Act as the primary liaison, connecting teens with Jewish/Israel programs across the valley and beyond.
  • Maintain regular communication with teen programs about upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Update website content and develop a strong social media presence to engage teens and parents.
  • Organize signature events such as “What’s What: Jewish Teen Programs 101,” teen showcases, and summer program fairs.
  • Collaborate with volunteer committees to facilitate outreach efforts.
  • Research and promote Israel travel, leadership summits, summer opportunities, and other enrichment programs.

Program Support & Leadership Development 🌱

  • Create and mentor a teen leadership board.
  • Develop programming on Jewish and Israeli advocacy, leadership, and education partnered with community organizations.
  • Support teen program directors through professional development, fostering collaboration, and program evaluation assistance.

Advocacy, Education & Collaboration 📚🤝

  • Build partnerships with umbrella Jewish organizations, synagogues, youth groups, and more to enhance community engagement.
  • Promote programs that emphasize Israel and Jewish identity.
  • Encourage the development of innovative educational and leadership programs based on community needs, such as Israel literacy and Jewish leadership.

Financial Management 💰

  • Oversee JTCAZ’s budget, grants, and incentives.
  • Assist with fundraising and donor relations to support sustainability.

  • Competitive salary: $45,000–$55,000 (commensurate with experience).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Excel, Mailchimp or similar tools, and CRM systems.
  • Marketing and social media expertise.
  • Experience in informal Jewish education.
  • A dynamic, energetic personality that motivates teens and families.
  • Passion for Jewish community engagement, creativity, and a growth mindset.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
