The Commercial Banking Deposits Relationship Manager plays a vital role in driving new deposit business and expanding primary banking relationships through proactive client acquisition, cross-selling, and market intelligence gathering. ๐
Overview
The Deposits Relationship Manager is responsible for identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities within existing accounts and untapped markets. They gather market insights, generate leads, develop proposals, and build relationships that ensure a steady flow of new revenues for the bank. The primary focus is on sourcing low-cost deposits, increasing Treasury fee income, and cross-selling bank products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Source new Centers of Influence (COIs) and serve as the primary contact for complex, profitable commercial relationships.
- Client Relationship Management: Attract and retain new clients while strengthening existing relationships.
- Deposit & Income Growth: Focus on sourcing low-cost deposits and expanding Treasury fee income.
- Cross-Selling & Customer Profiling: Maximize cross-sales by understanding customer needs and coordinating with product partners to introduce new bank products and services.
- Issue Resolution & Service: Resolve customer issues related to advisory, Treasury solutions, and services, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Sales & Presentations: Deliver presentations to potential and existing clients to meet sales targets.
- Relationship Ownership: act as the primary point of contact working closely with Line of Business RMs and leadership.
- CRM Utilization: Use Salesforce to manage client relationships and sales activities.
- Community Engagement: Represent the bank at civic and community events.
- Market & Product Strategy: Anticipate emerging customer trends to recommend new products and expand business.
- Client Support & Advisory: Assist clients with deposits, offer advice, and coordinate solutions, ensuring efficient resolution of questions and issues.
- Personal Development: Open to coaching and mentoring to enhance skills in onboarding relationships, cross-selling, and product activation, working closely with the manager. ๐ฅ
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC regulations, and complete annual BSA training.
- Report suspicious activities to the AML/BSA Compliance Department.
- Supervisors to ensure BSA training completion among staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Proven success in meeting sales goals, managing client relationships, and experience in credit, credit support, or financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of commercial banking products and services (credit and non-credit).
- Experience managing high-end Middle Market clients.
- Ability to work independently and leverage professional relationships within and outside the bank.
- Willingness to learn about all bank offerings.
- Proficiency with sales automation tools and related technologies.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Strong persuasion, diplomacy, negotiation, and closing skills.
Required Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 7+ years of experience as a Relationship Manager or Business Development Officer.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline is preferred.
