The Cambridge Public Schools (CPS), in partnership with families and the community, offers students rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning experiences, alongside the social, emotional, and academic supports necessary for college, career, and community success. The Role

We are looking for a talented and energetic clerk to provide essential support to the English Learner (EL) and History Departments. The successful candidate will assist administrators, Teachers in Charge, instructional coaches, and teachers to ensure the delivery of exceptional education to all students in Cambridge Public Schools.

This full-time position:

  • Will be split 0.75 FTE for the EL Department
  • Will be 0.25 FTE for the History Department
  • Reports to the Directors of both departments

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize department, curricular, and district-wide meetings
  • Manage payment vouchers and purchase orders for general funds and grant budgets
  • Respond promptly and professionally to telephone and email communications
  • Maintain positive relationships with other departments, staff, and educators across schools
  • Assist the Director in organizing and maintaining budgets for after-school and summer programs within the Department of Multilingual Learner Education
  • Understand and oversee processes related to purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, and Human Resources
  • Distribute and manage curricular documents for teachers
  • Handle procurement of department materials
  • Maintain and organize departmental resources and inventory
  • Proofread and edit documents for Coordinators
  • Communicate with families of English Learners and provide interpretation as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinators

Your Skill Set

  • High School Diploma; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 1-2+ years of office experience, preferably in an educational setting, with customer service and clerical responsibilities
  • Ability to work accurately and independently while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for education
  • Proficiency with Google Suite applications (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Slides, Forms, Sheets)
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn educational data systems such as Aspen, SchoolCity, and TalentEd
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach
  • Culturally responsive, attentive to the needs of diverse families and staff
  • Preferred proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Haitian Creole, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Bengali, Spanish, Portuguese, or Hebrew
