Overview

The Mandarin Publicly Available Information (PAI) Research and Translation Analyst will be responsible for discovering, collecting, and translating target language PAI related to science and technology (S&T) topics of strategic importance. This role focuses specifically on translating S&T documents and information prioritized by ONI, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all deliverables.

Responsibilities 📝

• Translate publications in the target language and other publicly available information while maintaining logical and coherent flow.
• Perform initial analysis on findings aligned with ONI priorities in formats specified by the government customer.
• Maintain a steady production pace of 1 to 4 pages daily.
• Create and manage a glossary of S&T-related native language terms.
• Transfer documents across domains to the designated destination determined by the government.
• Conduct routine research to discover new information sources.
• Develop and manage a research queue with scheduled searches for identified items.
• Perform ad-hoc research to identify new organizations, entities, topics, and other relevant information.
• Document and track reports/resources for discovery by ONI analysts and participate in bi-monthly meetings with government leads.
• Track requests-for-information (RFIs) and document updates or progress; attend bi-monthly review meetings.
• Perform quality control (QC) reviews of translated materials.
• Attend production and workgroup meetings as needed.

Qualifications 🎓

Education / Certifications

• Mandarin language proficiency verified by at least a 2.0 ILR rating, with a recent (within last year) test score. An equivalent Defense Language Proficiency Test score is acceptable.

Experience

• Ability to read, understand, and translate S&T lexicon in Mandarin.
• Experience using managed attribution systems and tools for safe open-source research, applying Open Source Tradecraft.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines concurrently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• At least one year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Clearance 🔐

Active TS/SCI clearance is required for this position.
