Project Timeline 📅
- Initial periods of 30 days, with potential extensions of 60 to 90 days or more
- May require work during non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends when necessary
Key Responsibilities 🔍
- Monitoring: Listening to or reading intercepted foreign language communications, providing verbal summaries, and producing subsequent written or typed reports in English.
- Transcribing: Converting spoken language into written form in the same language, then saving digitally or in print.
- Translating: Rendering spoken or written words from one language to another, mainly from Chinese to English, ensuring tone and style are preserved.
- Interpreting: Providing oral translation either consecutively or simultaneously between languages.
- Validating: Reviewing and ensuring accuracy of translations or transcriptions performed by others.
- Summarizing: Creating concise, accurate synopses of intercepted communications, including speaker identities, locations, and relevant events.

- Deconfliction Analysis: Checking for contact numbers or devices involved in investigations to avoid overlaps between separate cases.
- Voice Library: A collection of voice exemplars used for future voice comparison analyses.
- Source Data: The verbal or written material requiring linguistic services, derived from recordings or official documents.
- Minimization: Legal procedures limiting access to privileged communications, complying with court regulations.
Basic Qualifications ✅
- Must hold a Government Security Clearance
- Minimum of three years of translation experience or a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution in lieu of experience
- Ability to pass credit and criminal background checks
- Willingness to undergo random polygraph testing
- Computer proficiency with a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
- Excellent command of English; capable of producing clear, concise oral and written reports
- Proficiency in both source language and English at ILR level 3 or higher
- Understanding slang and colloquial expressions and their accurate translation
- Experience with various storage media, including audio/video cassettes and digital formats
Additional Considerations ⚖️
Potential requirements include lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
This position reports directly to the Program Manager.
