JTG is seeking experienced Chinese Analytical Linguists fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Fuzhounese, Hokkien, and Taishanese to support federal law enforcement operations. This role involves monitoring, translating, transcribing, and interpreting communications in various Chinese language variants, with opportunities nationwide. 🗣️🔍
Position Overview
Role: Chinese Analytical Linguists (Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Fuzhounese, Hokkien, Taishanese)
Location:
- In-person onsite work at offices across the United States, including:
- Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, El Paso, Houston, Los Angeles, Louisville, Miami, New Orleans, Newark, New York, Omaha, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, San Juan, Seattle, St. Louis, Washington

Contract Timeline:
- Initial 30-day periods with potential extensions of 60 to 90 days or more
- Includes non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends as necessary
Responsibilities 🎯
- Monitoring: Listening to or reading intercepted foreign communications and providing immediate oral summaries, followed by detailed written summaries in English.
- Transcribing: Converting spoken words into written form in the same language, saving digitally or in print.
- Translating: Converting spoken or written content from Chinese variants into English, preserving tone, style, and register.
- Interpreting: Performing oral translation either consecutively or simultaneously between Chinese language variants and English.
- Validating: Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of translations or transcriptions created by others.
- Summarizing: Producing concise, accurate summaries of intercepted communications, including speaker identities, locations, and relevant events.

Reviewing target numbers or devices in investigative systems to identify contacts across separate cases.
Voice Library
A collection of voice exemplars used for future voice comparison analysis.
Source Data
- Verbal Data: Audio or video recordings requiring linguistic services.
- Written Data: Official documents, transcripts, emails, maps, etc.
Minimization Procedures
Legal protocols restricting the listening to privileged communications, with required training and compliance.
Basic Qualifications ✅
- Government security clearance
- At least three years of translation experience (a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution may substitute)
- Ability to pass background checks, credit checks, and criminal investigations
- Willingness to undergo random polygraph testing
- Computer literacy with a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
- Excellent command of English, both oral and written
- Proficiency to pass language evaluations at ILR Level 3 or higher
- Understanding of slang and colloquial expressions in source languages and their accurate translation into English
- Experience with various media storage formats, including audio and video cassettes and digital media

Position may require lifting or moving objects up to 25 lbs.
