Position Summary
Chaplains serve as frontline representatives of MCHAP, fulfilling the mission and Christian ministry by leveraging their gifts and talents to support employees and their immediate families within the company environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Faith & Mission: Serve as a messenger of faith, mission, and purpose, embodying Christian principles through character and discipline.
- Relationship Building: Make regular visits to worksites (typically weekly) to build trust and foster relationships with employees.
- Pastoral Care: Visit employees and their families at hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, and other locations to provide care and support.
- Confidential Support: Offer pastoral discussions on personal issues such as family matters, health crises, grief, parenting, financial stress, and more.
- Referral & Coordination: Facilitate access to specialized assistance and coordinate services for employees and their families.
- Funeral & Grief Support: Assist in planning and attending funerals, providing follow-up support to grieving families.
- Visits & Notifications: Make jail visits when necessary and work with companies to notify families of incidents like death or injury, offering compassionate support.
- Transition Support: Provide post-termination care to aid employees transitioning out of the company.
- Spiritual Activities: Facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities as appropriate within the company-sponsored environment.
- Resource Provision: Share literature and resources to assist employees with life issues.
- Representational Duties: Act as a representative during serious situations such as illnesses, accidents, or funerals, as appropriate.
- Orientation & Response: Participate in new employee orientations and respond to leadership requests, with approval from the Executive Director of Operations.
Requirements
- Interfaith & Cultural Competence: Ability to work within diverse interfaith and cultural settings, respecting different lifestyles and beliefs.
- Communication Skills: Effective listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills, especially under stressful circumstances.
- Spiritual Maturity: Deep commitment to Christianity, solid understanding of the Bible, and active participation in a biblically-based church.
- Professionalism: Diplomatic, patient, courteous interactions along with sound judgment on sensitive issues.
- Communication Excellence: Strong oral and written communication skills, with emotional stability for challenging situations.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze information, identify solutions, and interpret policies effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Google Suites, Microsoft Office, and web-based applications; quick to adapt to new technology.
- Legal & Licensing: Active state driver’s license and minimum auto insurance coverage in serviced areas.
Conditions of Employment
Requires successful completion of a pre-employment background check. This is a field-based position where work environments can include manufacturing sites, hospitals, offices, and funeral homes, with varying temperature, noise, and lighting conditions.
