Position Summary

Chaplains serve as frontline staff, embodying the mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP. Utilizing their gifts and talents, they provide support and spiritual care to company employees and their immediate families.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Faith & Mission Communication: Acts as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
  • Community Engagement: Interacts with companies, employees, and the community with character rooted in personal and spiritual disciplines.
  • Ministry & Relationship Building:
    • Makes regular visits to worksites (usually weekly) to build trusting relationships.
    • Visits employees and their families at hospitals, nursing homes, residences, or other sites to offer care.
    • Provides confidential pastoral guidance on personal issues such as family matters, serious illnesses, grief, financial stress, and more.
    • Acts as a referral resource for specialized assistance.
  • Funeral & Jail Support:
    • Assists in funeral planning and support during grief recovery.
    • May visit inmates in jail to provide spiritual support.
  • Notification & Transition Support: Works with companies to communicate serious incidents and provide post-termination care.
  • Spiritual & Personal Resources: Facilitates or participates in spiritual enrichment activities and provides relevant literature and resources.
  • Community Representation: Represents the company during serious events like illnesses, accidents, or funerals.
  • Orientation & Additional Duties: Participates in new employee orientation and, with approval, responds to other leadership requests within scope.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong listening, communication, and community presentation abilities, especially under stress.
  • Christian Faith & Maturity: Demonstrates a committed Christian lifestyle, biblical knowledge, and active church participation.
  • Professionalism & Discretion: Maintains diplomatic, courteous conduct and handles sensitive issues confidentially.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written abilities to engage with leadership, colleagues, and families.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret policies and follow up on issues effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiar with Google Suites, Microsoft Office, internet, email, and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Legal & Licensing: Must hold an active state driver’s license and valid auto insurance where applicable.

Work Environment 🌍

This is a field-based remote position. Work environments vary and include manufacturing sites, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes, each with different temperature, noise, and lighting conditions.
