Position Summary

Chaplain staff serve as the frontline representatives of MCHAP's mission and Christian ministry, leveraging their gifts to serve employees and their immediate families with compassion and care.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Faith & Ministry: Serve as a messenger of faith, mission, and purpose, exemplifying character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
  • Community Interaction: Engage with companies, employees, and the community in a manner that reflects integrity and Christian values.
  • Name Visits & Relationship Building: Conduct regular visits (usually weekly) to worksites, hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, and other locations to foster trusting relationships.
  • Pastoral Support: Offer confidential pastoral conversations on personal issues such as family matters, illnesses, grief, parenting, financial stress, and more, with referrals for specialized assistance.
  • Funeral & Memorial Support: Assist in planning, conducting, and attending funeral services, providing follow-up support to grieving families.
  • Additional Support: Conduct jail visits, assist with notifications of death or serious injuries, and offer post-termination care for employees transitioning out of the company.
  • Spiritual Enrichment & Resources: Facilitate or support spiritual activities and provide resources to aid employees with life's challenges.
  • Representation & Orientation: Represent the company in ministry-related contexts and participate in new employee orientations to explain Employee Care Services and Chaplain team roles.
  • Additional Duties: Respond to other duties as requested by leadership, with approval from the Executive Director of Operations.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively within an interfaith setting, respecting diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
  • Communication Skills: Effective listening, client interaction, presentation delivery, and documentation skills, especially under stressful conditions.
  • Spiritual Maturity: Commitment to a Christian lifestyle, incorporating Christian values into daily activities and ministry work.
