Cherokee Federal Is Hiring A Case Manager Bilingual
Community Associate
Join us in delivering trauma-informed social services at city sanctuary hotels across New York City to support migrants and asylum seekers through compassionate engagement and support.
Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Social Service Director, Community Associates will provide on-site social services, working collaboratively with hotel staff, security, and community organizations to welcome and assist diverse populations, including singles, families with children, and adult families navigating NYC.
Compensation & Benefits 💼
- Estimated Starting Salary: $24.04/hour (pay based on experience)

Community Associate Responsibilities 🌟
- Culturally sensitive registration, intake, roster tracking, and assessments
- Bilingual Spanish/English case management
- Referral to community-based programs and organizations
- Coordinate interpretation and translation services
- Collaborate with NYC Department of Education (DOE) for student registration, school placement, attendance, transportation, and troubleshooting
- Facilitate referrals for ESL instruction and childcare
- Coordinate medical care and immigration legal services
- Engage with the Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIS)
- Assist with storage and distribution of packaged meals and other service delivery tasks
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support clients’ needs
Desired Experience, Education, Skills & Abilities 📚
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant social services experience with vulnerable populations (preferred: social work or human services + 2 years of experience)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Quick learner with problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Basic knowledge of immigration laws and procedures
- Fluency in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Understanding trauma and delivering trauma-informed services
- Crisis intervention experience
- Knowledge of child development and child welfare
- Previous roles such as Community Coordinator, Shift Lead, or Community Engagement Manager are relevant
