Video Interpreter Responsibilities

• Provide effective video remote interpreting services for consumers, with occasional audio calls as needed.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined by Amn Language Services.
• Exhibit professional behavior including punctuality, preparedness, respectful collaboration, and accurate record keeping.
• Adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies.
• Complete training on platforms and pass an internal readiness check prior to handling live calls.
• Participate in ongoing quality assurance and call monitoring programs.

Required Qualifications

• Fluency and strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target languages.
• Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment focused on interpreter protocols and medical terminology.
• Respect and understanding of LEP clients, including cultural, dialectal, and personal preferences related to legal and medical care.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional US-based medical interpreting experience.
• National interpreting certifications such as CCHI or CMI.
• Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
• Accredited medical interpreting courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural Training, 40-hour medical courses).
• Extensive knowledge of ethics and standards (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws like HIPAA and applicable state and federal regulations.

Home Office Requirements 🏡

• Private room with full-length (floor-to-ceiling) walls.
• Door that can be closed and locked for privacy.
• Hardwired high-speed internet connection.
• This role must be performed in a private, company-approved office setting. Public spaces, travel trailers, or other unapproved areas are not permitted.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Use of an on-ear headset throughout shifts.
• Use of a web camera to interact with patients and providers.
• Visual capabilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, talk, and hear.

Additional Details

Job Type: Part-time (fixed schedule, between 20–28 hours per week).

Pay Scale: $19.00 – $22.00* per hour (rate depends on experience, training, education, and location).
