The University of Arizona's Critical Languages Program seeks a skilled part-time Cantonese Language Tutor to support language learning in a dynamic and culturally rich environment.

Position Highlights 🎯
- Deliver weekly tutorials for Cantonese language learners, including both credit and non-credit sessions.
- Engage with small groups or individual students to enhance speaking, pronunciation, grammar, writing, reading, and study skills.
- Operate in a flexible work schedule aligned with course and program needs.
- Serve as a liaison between students and examiners to facilitate effective learning experiences.
The program is part of a broad initiative supported by alumni Jacquelynn and Bennett Dorrance, who have generously committed $5.4 million to endow the deanship of the College of Humanities (more info).

Roles & Responsibilities ✍️
- Conduct and facilitate weekly Cantonese tutorial sessions, focusing on speaking, pronunciation, and comprehension skills.
- Maintain and update course content on D2L, including syllabi, cultural materials, and relevant dates.
- Schedule classes and communicate schedules to the Program Coordinator.
- Track student attendance and submit evaluations in a timely manner.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to students.
- Encourage participation in language-related extracurricular activities.
- Attend required training sessions and program meetings.
- Adhere to university policies, including the code of conduct and mandatory trainings.
- Complete the Tutor as a Foreign Language Certificate during the first year (if applicable).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 🌟
- Fluent in Cantonese with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Minimum Qualifications ✔️
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- One (1) year relevant work experience.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Cantonese.
Preferred Qualifications 🌍
- Teaching or tutoring experience in a foreign language setting.
- Experience with self-instructional and online courses.
- Bachelor’s degree in second-language teaching or related field.
- Certification in second-language instruction.

- Work Schedule: Part-Time (6-10 hours/week)
- Compensation: $22.77 - $28.46 hourly
