Exciting Opportunity: General Sales Manager – New England 🌟

About the Role

The General Sales Manager – New England is responsible for developing and executing the regional sales strategy, leading a hands-on team of sales representatives, associates, and merchandisers. The role demands strong leadership, a deep understanding of perishables, and proven success managing sales teams in retail-driven settings.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Sales Leadership 🚀

  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of 10+ Sales Representatives, Associates, and Merchandisers across the New England region.
  • Set quarterly and annual sales targets, KPIs, and performance benchmarks.
  • Conduct field ride-alongs, coaching sessions, and performance reviews regularly.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor talent to support growth objectives.

Account & Territory Management 🏪

  • Maintain direct relationships with major retailers such as Market Basket, Shaw’s, Stop & Shop, Hannaford Bros, and Stu Leonard’s.
  • Conduct key meetings for performance reviews, promotional planning, new product placements, pricing, and distribution expansion.
  • Identify and pursue new regional business leads using industry insights.
  • Drive incremental orders, circular promotions, and new product approvals.

Execution & Field Operations ⚙️

  • Travel frequently throughout the territory to support stores and retail partners.
  • Ensure in-store execution standards including product placement, merchandising, shelf integrity, refrigeration, temperature compliance, and promotional accuracy.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly to maintain strong brand presence at store level.

Financial & Administrative Oversight 💼

  • Work with Accounts Receivable and Sales teams to ensure accounts are current.
  • Quote pricing and credit terms within authorized guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit sales activity reports, forecasts, budgets, and expense documentation timely.
  • Coordinate delivery expectations aligning with production and logistics schedules.

Key Qualifications

Education 🎓

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Experience 📅

  • 3–7 years of progressive field sales, key account management, or regional sales experience.
  • At least 3 years managing sales or merchandising teams of 10+ members.
  • Recent experience in perishables, refrigerated foods, dairy, meat, CPG, or Latino perishables strongly preferred.
  • Established relationships with major traditional perishables retailers in New England.

Skills & Competencies 🏆

  • Strong management and territory development skills.
  • Ability to execute effectively in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
  • Deep knowledge of pricing, promotions, merchandising, and category management.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Proficiency in sales analytics, forecasting, reporting, and KPIs.
  • Tech-savvy: experienced with Microsoft 365, Teams, and CRM tools.

Preferred Technical Skills 💻

  • Experience with planogram software such as Apollo, Relex, or PlanoHero.
  • Salesforce CRM experience.
  • NetSuite ERP familiarity.

Language Requirements 🗣️

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder presentations.

Licenses & Travel 🚗

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the New England territory.

Compensation & Benefits 💰

  • Bonus: 10% of annual salary
