🔬 Diagnostics Technical Specialist (DTS) Job Overview

The Diagnostics Technical Specialist (DTS) provides onsite support to veterinary clinics, laboratory research facilities, and veterinary academic institutions. They are responsible for maintaining the overall business health and ensuring customer satisfaction within their assigned territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in all phases of onsite support, emphasizing selling diagnostics solutions, implementation, workflow improvements, and product utilization.
  • Align with clinics and hospitals on SOP development, implementation, training, operations, applications, and troubleshooting veterinary diagnostics products.
  • Travel within territory as needed, with anticipated travel up to 80% 🚗.
  • Work mainly during standard business hours, Monday to Friday — with occasional out-of-state travel for training and meetings.
  • Build and nurture relationships with clinics to enhance diagnostics utilization, adoption, and quicken implementation.
  • Facilitate workflow process development to improve the overall customer experience.
  • Provide prompt onsite technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex system issues.
  • Deliver product installation, validation, and training to clinic staff.
  • Complete detailed reports after customer visits, including customer satisfaction feedback.

Customer Service & Collaboration

  • Possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Understand veterinary clinic operations, diagnostic applications, workflow, and training needs.
  • Deliver clear training presentations in both formal and informal settings.
  • Collaborate closely with Area Business Managers (ABMs) and Diagnostic Solutions Consultants (DSCs).
  • Identify additional opportunities for analyzer sales and referrals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe.
  • Basic knowledge of animal disease states (preferred).
  • Willingness and availability to travel up to 80% of the workweek, across the US and Canada.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including potential travel on Sundays for early-week customer visits.
  • Education: Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Language skills: Bilingual in Spanish or French is a plus.
