This role is essential in showcasing the Department’s impact, programs, and services to residents, partners, and stakeholders throughout Prince George’s County. 🎯

🔑 Key Responsibilities

✍️ Writing & Editorial Content

  • Write, edit, and proofread a variety of materials including press releases, media advisories, feature stories, newsletters, website content, talking points, and social media copy
  • Translate Department initiatives, programs, events, and policies into compelling, community-focused messaging
  • Ensure consistency with Department branding, tone, and messaging standards

🎥 Media & Public Affairs Support

  • Assist with media outreach by drafting pitches and coordinating interviews
  • Support the preparation of press kits, media lists, and briefing materials
  • Monitor and track media coverage related to Department initiatives

🎯 Required Qualifications

  • Strong writing and editing skills with experience producing public-facing content
  • Ability to write clearly for diverse audiences including residents, media, and stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related fields
  • Experience working within government, parks and recreation, nonprofit, or community-based organizations
  • Familiarity with media relations and public-sector communications strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in communications, marketing, and digital storytelling
