PRACTICE BC Is Hiring A Bilingual Spanish-Speaking Algebra I Tutor

Position:Bilingual Spanish Algebra I TutorLocation: East Williamsburg Scholars Academy, 850 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211About Us:At PRACTICE, we believe in creating opportunities for every student to succeed. If you're passionate about education, committed to equity, and eager to make a meaningful impact, this is your chance to inspire young minds and support their growth.About the Role:We're hiring one dedicated in-person Algebra I tutor to provide academic support to 9th and 10th-grade students at East Williamsburg Scholars Academy. The tutor must be Spanish-speaking and will push into classrooms to assist teachers, reinforce key mathematical concepts, and help students build their confidence in Algebra I.What You'll Do:

  • Provide small-group and one-on-one support in Algebra I to help students build strong foundational skills
  • Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and student needs
  • Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and ensure student engagement
  • Track student progress and provide feedback to teachers and school staff
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support Spanish-speaking students by breaking down complex topics in both English and Spanish

Schedule:

  • Days: Three days per week (Monday–Friday, based on candidate's preference)
  • Time: 8:15 AM – 12:15 PM
  • Duration: March 17, 2025 – May 28, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
  • ​​​​​April 14–18 (Spring Recess)

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching Algebra I
  • Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of high school-level Algebra I concepts
  • Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages
  • Adaptability: Abilityto modify instruction based on student needs and classroom dynamics
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
