About the Role:

We're hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group ELA (English Language Arts) instruction to Spanish speaking 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students at JHS 292. As an in-person tutor, you'll partner in the classroom with teachers to deliver personalized small-group ELA instruction that empowers students to grow their skills, boost their confidence, and achieve academic success.

What You'll Do:

  • Work closely with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive support in middle school ELA
  • Engage small groups of students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience
  • Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities

Schedule:

  • Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Duration: February 11th, 2025 – March 6th, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
  • February 17 – February 21 (Midwinter Recess)

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school level ELA
  • Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
