Looking for an entry-level sales role where you can support the DIY automotive part business while developing your skills? This position offers opportunities to grow, with a focus on customer service, product knowledge, and store operations.
What is a Salesperson? 🤝
An entry-level position supporting the DIY business, aiming to achieve sales and service objectives. Candidates should have a basic understanding of store systems, automotive concepts, and parts. The role involves sourcing from various channels, managing inventory, and assisting customers. Fleet safety certification is a plus. The position can be part-time or full-time.
Primary Responsibilities 🎯
- Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customers via in-store visits and phone calls
- Achieve personal sales goals and help the store reach its targets
- Offer DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
- Maintain store product displays and operational standards
- Manage inventory processes including truck put-away, shoot-outs, cycle counts, and back stock
Secondary Responsibilities 🔧
- Ensure store cleanliness — floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lots
- Assist with stocking, including trucks and back stock
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed
Success Factors 🌟
- Basic driving and navigation skills
- Proficiency with delivery boards and inventory systems
- Friendly and effective communication skills
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
- Knowledge of safety protocols and operating store equipment
- Automotive parts and system knowledge
- Experience with POS and parts lookup systems
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
Essential Job Skills 📋
- Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
- Effective communication and relationship-building with customers and team members
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and parts catalogs
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Flexible availability including days, evenings, and weekends
Prior Experience Recommended 🌱
- 2–3 years of successful sales experience in diverse retail environments, providing exceptional customer service
Physical Demands 💪
This role requires predominantly walking and standing, with the ability to talk, hear, handle objects, reach, climb, and stoop. Employees should be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities needed include close and distance vision, color perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment 🌦️
Most work is indoors; however, employees will occasionally work outside in various weather conditions. Tasks may involve exposure to moving machinery, high places, chemicals, electrical hazards, explosives, and vibrations. Noise levels are typically moderate.

Compensation & Benefits 💰
The estimated hourly wage ranges from $16.40 to $17.75 for new team members. The actual rate depends on factors like location, experience, automotive knowledge, education, and skills.
