Looking for an entry-level sales opportunity where you can support the DIY automotive business? This role is perfect for someone eager to grow, with foundational knowledge of store systems, basic automotive parts, and excellent customer service skills.
What is a Salesperson? 🤝
An entry-level position supporting the DIY automotive sector, capable of achieving sales and service objectives. Requires basic knowledge of automotive systems, inventory management, and store operations. Flexible to be part-time or full-time. Fleet safety certification is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities 🎯
- Provide an outstanding selling experience for DIY customers both in-store and over the phone
- Meet personal sales goals and contribute to the store’s overall sales targets
- Assist with DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper replacements
- Maintain high standards for store products and operations
- Manage inventory processes including truck put-away, cycle counts, shoot-outs, and back stock
Secondary Responsibilities 🌟
- Ensure store cleanliness—floors, restrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot maintenance
- Stock shelves via truck deliveries and manage back stock efficiently
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed
Success Factors 🏆
- Basic driving, navigation, and delivery system operation skills
- Friendly and effective communication skills
- Ability to locate and stock automotive parts accurately
- Knowledge of safety procedures and store equipment operation
- Proficiency with inventory, POS, and parts lookup systems
- Expertise in testing and diagnosing DIY automotive issues
Essential Job Skills 🔧
- Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
- Strong reading and writing skills; ability to interpret manuals and safety rules
- Basic math skills for handling measurements and calculations
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends
Prior Experience Needed 📋
2-3 years of successful sales experience in retail, especially in diverse environments where delivering outstanding customer service was key.
Physical Demands 💪
This role requires standing or walking predominantly, with the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and, on occasion, up to 100 pounds. Visual acuity, dexterity, and the ability to handle various physical tasks are essential.
Work Environment 🌦️
Primarily indoor work, with occasional outdoor tasks in various weather conditions. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and noise may occur, requiring safety precautions.
Compensation 💵
The hourly rate ranges from $18.05 to $19.54 for new team members. This depends on factors such as location, experience, automotive knowledge, education, and other skills.
