🔍 Basic Function
The Regional Compliance Manager is entrusted with ensuring that the organization's operations in RAM adhere to all legal, regulatory, and internal policy standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance initiatives, conducting risk assessments, and monitoring business practices to identify potential violations. Collaboration with various departments is essential to mitigate risks and promote a culture of compliance.
💼 Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and monitor effective Enterprise Risk Management, Governance, and Compliance programs across the region, including joint venture companies.
- Conduct continuous risk monitoring, reporting, and collaborate with business units on identified risks and corrective actions.
- Identify high-risk areas related to fraud, internal control gaps, non-compliance issues, and opportunities for business efficiency improvements. Work with the business to establish and implement appropriate compliance codes and internal controls.
- Manage compliance issues within RAM to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Execute risk-based audits on operational, process, and special projects following the audit plan.
- Coordinate effectively with stakeholders such as Group Audit, Legal, Management, and Business Process Owners on various initiatives including training, governance, and compliance programs.
🕵️♂️ Auditing
Independently investigate compliance matters, design internal investigations, and implement corrective actions. Focus areas include:
- Detecting process leakages and fraud exposure
- Financial audits covering cash flow, accounting, and bookkeeping
- Supply Chain Management audits such as procurement, tendering, and logistics controls
- Operational audits of material flow, inventory, and quarry recovery rates
- Sales-related evaluations including customer assessments, pricing, and distributor management
- HR audits on payroll, hiring processes, and legal compliance
- Ad-hoc investigations like whistleblowing, fraud, and value-for-money analyses
⚖️ Governance & Compliance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish governance standards and procedures to promote effective compliance programs.
- Perform continuous risk assessments at regional and country levels, monitoring corrective actions.
- Develop educational and awareness initiatives for staff.
- Report deviations and contribute to building a knowledge base for ongoing improvements.
- Maintain a safe environment for reporting serious non-compliance issues via hotline or other channels.
- Lead investigations into reported issues, ensuring proper closure of corrective measures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within regional or multinational organizations.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is essential.
- Strong knowledge of regional and industry-specific regulations (e.g., anti-corruption, data privacy, environmental regulations).
- Proven ability to develop and manage compliance programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional and multicultural teams with high ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel 30-50% within the US, Canada, Mexico, and South America.
- Flexible work location (excluding Colorado, California, and New York unless approved), with valid US employment authorization (sponsorship not available).
