Now Hiring: Lead Teacher for the 2026-27 School Year 🎉

Key Responsibilities as Lead Teacher 📝

  • Curriculum Development: Designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum aligned with our school philosophy and learning goals.
  • Lesson Planning: Planning engaging, emergent lessons and activities collaboratively with associate teachers.
  • Language Immersion: Modeling and facilitating French language immersion throughout the day.
  • Classroom Management: Maintaining appropriate ratios and creating a safe, nurturing environment for all children.
  • Mentorship: Guiding and mentoring associate teachers with regular feedback and modeling strong teaching practices.
  • Family Engagement: Building trusting relationships with families, including:
    • Writing thoughtful conference reports twice per year ✍️
    • Leading parent-teacher conferences biannually 🤝
    • Sending a consistent, reflective weekly classroom newsletter 📰
  • Communication: Engaging with families professionally and openly, grounded in partnership.
  • Classroom Environment: Creating and maintaining an organized, engaging space reflecting children’s interests and ideas.
  • Documentation & Reflection: Supporting the documentation of learning through displays, portfolios, and pedagogical reflections.
  • Inclusive Culture: Fostering a classroom environment that affirms each child’s identity and nurtures a sense of belonging.
  • Professional Development: Participating in ongoing training, team meetings, and school-wide events.
  • Health & Safety: Upholding all health, safety, and licensing standards.
  • Additional Duties: Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Site Director or Head of School.

As a Faculty Member 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

  • Collaborating professionally within team settings to promote a supportive learning community.
  • Providing extra help and guidance to students when needed.
  • Representing the school at community events to support students and families.
  • Engaging actively in professional development and faculty meetings.

Qualifications 🎓

  • French Language Proficiency: Required 🗣️
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Required) 🎓
  • Experience: At least two years of documented early childhood teaching experience (Required) 🧒
  • Preferred Experience: Familiarity with French immersion, bilingual education, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Bank Street, or progressive education methods (Strongly Preferred) ⭐
  • Certification: New York State teaching certification (Preferred) 📜
