Job Purpose 🏥

At Shields, we’re looking for a self-starter capable of working independently and building strong relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal staff. The ideal candidate is results-driven, positive, and committed to delivering high-quality patient service with professionalism and empathy. Being tech-savvy and adaptable to multiple software platforms is essential, as you will manage various tools simultaneously to support total patient care in a collaborative clinic setting.

You will play a pivotal role in providing integrated support to patients and pharmacists, focusing on medication adherence and education, especially within specialty clinics. Your ability to seamlessly integrate with clinic teams and ensure smooth operations is key to your success.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

  • Deliver exceptional care by providing comprehensive medication management services to hospital patients.
  • Collaborate effortlessly with hospital clinicians to serve patients both in person and remotely.
  • Educate prospective patients on how our pharmacy services enhance their overall care experience.
  • Support outpatient retail and specialty prescription needs.
  • Expand the pharmacy’s patient base, especially within specialty services.
  • Keep patients on track with medication regimens through outbound checks, refills, and adherence follow-ups.
  • Communicate effectively with the Patient Service Center regarding refill and appointment reports.
  • Develop and improve processes to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Identify medications requiring special storage or handling, such as hazardous or refrigerated medicines.
  • Ensure availability of necessary supplies like sharps containers, needles, and swabs.
  • Manage inbound inquiries efficiently, resolving issues and triaging as needed.
  • Perform refill reminders under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assist with insurance issues, prior authorizations, and financial assistance programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within all required systems.
  • Organize and update relevant data using database applications.
  • Apply insights and recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Identify trends, resolve problems, and suggest enhancements to workflows.
  • Participate actively in process improvement initiatives and organizational projects.
  • Protect confidential information and uphold the organization’s values.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through educational opportunities and networking.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the company’s mission.

Qualifications & Skills 🎓

  • Licensure: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in pharmacy tech roles; 3-5 years preferred.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong foundation in MS Office (Excel, Word), ability to learn new software quickly, multitasking across multiple applications.
  • Traits: Highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented, empathetic, with strong judgment and communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Energetic, motivated team player, maintaining confidentiality and exhibiting integrity.
  • Knowledge (a plus): Transplant, hepatitis C, infectious diseases including HIV, and oncology.

Compensation & Additional Information 💼

Salary range: $66,300 - $70,000 plus bonuses, commensurate with experience and location.
