Established in 1909 through the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school has graduated over 12,000 students and continues to grow, serving more children each year.

Open Position: Full-time Flex Houseparents 🏠

We are seeking married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this impactful role, couples live in on-campus student homes and provide essential care, guidance, supervision, and support to approximately 8–13 students, helping create a nurturing, family-like environment that encourages holistic development.

Key Responsibilities 📝

  • Providing daily supervision and mentorship
  • Managing household routines and student schedules
  • Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
  • Driving students to activities and participating in recreational and developmental activities
  • Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
  • Overseeing household budgeting and reporting

Initially, Flex Houseparents support various student homes on a schedule of nine days on duty followed by three days off. Over time, they transition into a Placed Houseparent role, residing and working with the same group of students in their own home.

  • Salary: $44,768 per person (approximately $168,000 total per couple)

Qualifications 🎓

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth
  • Legally married couples for at least two years
  • Both spouses aged 27 or older
  • No more than three dependent children residing in the student home
  • Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
  • Pet limitations: one dog of approved breeds and fish only
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to be certified to drive student vans
  • Comfort leading students in daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel (proselytizing prohibited)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; serve as role models
