Marys Center for Maternal and Child Care Is Hiring A Bilingual Mental Health Therapist

Position Summary

The Mental Health Therapist works within Mary’s Center’s outpatient behavioral health clinic, delivering core mental health services including assessments, treatment planning, and individual and family psychotherapy. We are seeking full-time therapists dedicated to client care and professional growth.

Reportability

This position reports directly to the Senior Clinical Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client Rights & Confidentiality: Explain therapist’s role and client rights, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct diagnostic assessments, gathering information from referral sources, client charts, family members, and previous providers.
  • Diagnosis & Treatment Planning: Determine DSM-5 diagnosis; develop treatment plans and obtain necessary authorizations for services based on insurance requirements.
  • Therapy Services: Provide individual and family psychotherapy to support insight development and achieve personal goals outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Documentation: Record all contacts, referrals, and relevant information accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with policies and billing deadlines.
  • Productivity & Reporting: Meet weekly productivity standards and maintain monthly statistics; prepare reports for the Director.
  • Family Engagement: Involve families and key support persons in treatment as appropriate.
  • Crisis Management: Apply crisis intervention skills to stabilize clients when needed.
  • Case Reviews & Supervision: Participate in weekly peer group supervision and case review sessions.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and incorporate clients’ values and cultural backgrounds into services.
  • On-Call Support: Provide 24-hour on-call support on a rotation schedule, 1-2 weeks per year or more as necessary.
  • Professional Development: Engage in additional training or committee participation to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Work Schedule & Location

  • In-Office Days: 2-3 days weekly, depending on participant needs.
  • Appointments: 4-6 non-business hours slots required.
  • Schedule Type: Hybrid model accommodating remote and onsite work as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • An entry-level license (LMSW or LGPC) to practice psychotherapy in the District of Columbia or Maryland, depending on the job site.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is mandatory; fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

Physical Demands

Position requires sitting regularly; frequent hand and arm reaching, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing. Must be capable of lifting objects up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Primarily in a typical office or home setting with quiet to moderate noise levels. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold, heat, and humidity. Flexible work schedule with options for remote and onsite work.
