About the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF)

Position Overview

The Legal Interviewer (Bilingual - Spanish) conducts telephone interviews with clients seeking legal assistance, assesses legal issues, and systematically refers them to qualified attorneys. Responsibilities include responding to online requests, screening clients for eligibility in low-fee or pro bono programs, coordinating appointments, and summarizingLegal issues using computerized intake forms. The role also involves making referrals to social and governmental agencies when needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training
  • Experience working with diverse communities preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Fluent communication in English and Spanish, both speaking and writing 😊
  • Excellent multitasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Patience and empathy when dealing with clients’ needs
  • Good judgment in referral decisions for LRIS services
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
