Position Details 📍
- Location: Frost Elementary, Pasco, Washington 99301
- Open Date: August 13, 2025
- Application Deadline: August 18, 2025, at 4:00 PM (or until filled)
- Hours:
- 6.00 hours/day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
- 4.00 hours on Wednesdays
- 4.00 hours on Early Release Days
- 1.00 hour/day, Monday - Friday (Temporary Assignment)
- Salary Range: $21.38 - $23.72 per hour
- Additional Pay: Bilingual/ biliterate (Spanish): +$0.50/hour; BA Degree: +$0.75/hour
- Contract Duration: 180-day calendar, temporary position (subject to annual change)
- Note: New hires are conditional upon passing a fingerprint screening
Key Responsibilities 📝
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer first aid and provide emergency care 🚑
- Offer one-on-one or group instruction to students
- Assist classroom teachers and administrators with classroom management 🏫
- Prepare materials needed for lessons
- Support student arrival and departure, including crossing duties and transit assistance 🚸
- Report misconduct on school property and school bus routes
- Help with light cleaning, equipment issuance, and supervising age-appropriate activities 🎮
- Follow district safety policies and program guidelines
- Complete annual training for paraeducator certification 📚
- Assist with administering tests, quizzes, and assessments as directed ✏️
- Maintain accurate student records in management systems
- Translate verbal and written information (Bilingual Applicants Only) 🌐
- Assist with personal care needs such as diapering, toileting, and lifting (additional pay involved) 💧
- Participate in district meetings and distribute relevant materials
- Supervise students to promote a safe and productive learning environment
Non-Essential Responsibilities
- Assist other personnel with their work activities
- Perform additional duties within the scope of the position
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior 🗣️
- Attend CPI training or be willing to do so
Qualifications & Requirements ✅
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual and/or Biliterate in Spanish
- Must meet one of the following:
- Associates Degree (AAS, AA) or higher
- 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college-level courses (100 or higher)
- Passing score on the ETS paraeducator assessment
- Experience working with students with special needs (preferred but not required)
- Valid First Aid and/or CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in a K-12 setting (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 📋
- Familiarity with office equipment: computers, copiers, laminators, telephones, scanners, paper cutters, etc.
- Proficiency in English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
- Proficiency in operating standard office applications and basic computer skills
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
- Capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is a plus
