Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide vital HR support focused on compliance, employee relations, and administrative tasks.
  • Assist with communication between company leaders and HR/Payroll representatives.
  • Offer initial guidance on employee relations, performance management, and employment terminations, escalating complex issues to senior HR staff.
  • Ensure adherence to Federal and State labor laws, company policies, and procedures.
  • Support training and development initiatives, working closely with the HR Manager.
  • Help administer reasonable accommodations under the ADA.
  • Collect and analyze HR data, including employee satisfaction surveys, exit interviews, and turnover statistics, providing actionable insights.
  • Participate in investigations of HR-related complaints, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Assist in updating job descriptions, HR policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Conduct audits for HR activities to maintain compliance and consistency.
  • Promote and embody the organization’s core values as a cultural champion.
  • Support EEO compliance efforts.
  • Assist with biweekly payroll processing for a small group of employees.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.

Additional Attributes

  • Ability to develop tasks independently based on HR needs or collaborative efforts.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws.
  • Proactive in following up on assignments without supervision.
  • Effective coaching and advisory skills for issue resolution.
  • Positive interaction with employees at all levels.
  • Experience with Benefits, Recruiting, FMLA/CFRA, and HRIS systems is a plus.

Qualifications

  • PHR or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience.
  • Knowledge of Labor Law and Cal-OSHA regulations.
  • Experience in the agricultural industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Education

  • Some college or a bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Ability to perform essential functions safely and effectively in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other regulations.
  • Regular, punctual attendance.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Clear communication on the telephone.
  • Sitting for short or long periods, traveling between sites.
  • Ability to drive and get in/out of the company vehicle multiple times daily.
