Position Details
- Job Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried (40-hour work week)
- Starting Salary: $60,000+
- Classification: Exempt under FLSA (not eligible for overtime)
- Reports To: COO
About the Role
The Bilingual Human Resources Operations Specialist supports employees—past and present—and management by overseeing employee relations and core HR operations. This role addresses workplace concerns, conducts investigations, ensures consistent application of policies, and supports compliance with employment laws. Fluency in English and Spanish is essential, as the role involves being a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and fostering a respectful, inclusive work environment.
Location & Travel
Based in Washington, DC (DMV Metro Area) 🚆. This full-time role requires onsite presence, with travel between 8 stores and the main office, as well as occasional off-site events.
Essential Functions
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Address employee issues including harassment allegations and workplace complaints
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees
- Conduct investigations and ensure fair policy application
- Complete unemployment claims and represent the company in related hearings
- Stay updated on EEO, affirmative action, and labor laws
- Manage incident reports, workers' compensation claims, and OSHA reports
- Handle sensitive employee information with discretion
Onboarding, Training & Engagement
- Organize and conduct new employee orientations and harassment training in Spanish
- Distribute and analyze exit interview surveys to identify improvement opportunities
HR Operations & Administration
- Monitor HR communication channels and process requests
- Distribute tax forms (W-2s, 1099s) and assist with retrieval
- Analyze employment data and prepare reports for leadership and agencies
- Maintain accurate personnel records and compile statistical data
- Interpret HR policies, laws, and procedures for staff and management
- Assist with benefits open enrollment and answer HR-related questions
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll
- Provide administrative support for HR functions
Qualifications & Skills
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required
- Minimum of 2 years experience in HR or a related field
- Restaurant experience is a plus
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail and confidentiality
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HRIS systems and administrative processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and spot trends
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable
- Knowledge of employee engagement practices is a plus
