This role is based at our Tysons, VA headquarters, with frequent travel to construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Position located on a construction job site
  • Serve as a liaison between employees and management
  • Investigate complaints, provide counseling, and work towards conflict resolution, keeping supervisors informed
  • Recommend corrective actions and support disciplinary processes
  • Walk around project sites periodically to interact with employees, answer questions, address concerns, and assess the work environment
  • Identify issues requiring escalation to corporate HR
  • Stay updated on labor laws and advise supervisors accordingly
  • Clarify company policies and procedures
  • Coach supervisors on HR compliance
  • Facilitate the annual performance review process with corporate HR
  • Participate in face-to-face evaluations when practical
  • Arrange training sessions for employees and supervisors
  • Conduct new hire orientation and educate employees on benefits
  • Ensure labor law posters are current and visible
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze root causes for voluntary terminations
  • Propose retention strategies and recommend process improvements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in employee relations or related fields, preferably in construction or engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; associates degree plus 6+ years of experience considered
  • 8+ years of experience without a degree
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75%
